Event Team

Susan Marie and Summer have been planning events for years and, while planning and directing the wedding of a mutual friend, decided to turn it into a business venture. After all, they have a passion for the wedding industry and working with brides and their families.

Event planning became a passion for me in college as Event Coordinator for my sorority. I love the fact that every event is different. Some brides choose traditional styles while others go the more contemporary route. From the big picture to the smallest details, every piece plays a part in determining the atmosphere of your event. Our job is to make sure everything coordinates.

Summer Harpold, Co-founder/Planner

My love for event planning became apparent to me during my college years (graduate of Appalachian State University) as I was on several leadership teams as their Event Coordinator, and I thrived on making sure all of the details were in place.  Then in the summer after college graduation, I helped 7 friends plan their own weddings.  I love to see the smile on each bride’s face when all of the details come together to make their wedding day the most special day of their lives.

Gillian Dobbins, Planner

Gillian was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, and has been in the event and wedding business profession for more than 7 years.  In May 2011, she graduated cum laude from University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a B.A. in Hospitality Management and a minor in Business Administration.  Gillian is a Certified Wedding Planner and her goal is attend to every detail to make your wedding flawless.  You can always find Gillian with a smile on her face and will never question she truly enjoys what she does. Her favorite part of event planning? Interacting with new people and always exploring new and innovative ideas. You can find Gillian working full time at the High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau serving as their Group Sales and Services Manager. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, going to the gym, spending quality time with her niece, friends and family. No one is a stranger to Gillian and she is always looking for new opportunities and challenges.

Sarah Franzheim, Planner

As a past Coordinated Events bride, Sarah knows first hand how important a wedding day is, not only for the bride and groom, but their families as well. Sarah believes that your day should be as stress free as possible. For her own wedding, Susan Marie and Summer became the champions for her on her wedding day; and in turn Sarah champions for all of her couples, assuring that their wedding is executed well, all while having fun doing it. Sarah is creative, funny, flexible and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure your day goes off without a hitch. When she’s not coordinating events, Sarah enjoys reading, binge watching TV shows on Netflix, and crossfit.

In the summer of 2012, I joined the Coordinated Events family as an intern, while obtaining my degree in event management at UNCG. Having a degree in event management gives me the knowledge and background of guest experience and aesthetic perfectionism.

Under the training of Susan Marie and Summer, I’ve learned all the ins and outs that come with making your day amazing. The most valuable thing that I’ve learned as an event planner is make the planning process fun and relaxed for you, the bride. We do the planning, budgeting and coordinating so that you get to focus on the exciting parts of designing your wedding, like: picking beautiful flowers, trying on gorgeous wedding gowns, and selecting the perfect invitation.

When I’m not planning fabulous events, you can find me cooking up new recipes, getting outdoors with my Golden Retriever, Duke, or spending time with friends and family.

Years with Coordinated: 8

Favorite things about working weddings: helping the family (both sides) feel taken care of- whether it’s running out for cokes and crackers or running sweet gifts between bride and groom, and all things in between.  Keeping things light and fun, while getting crucial tasks for the big day done.

Grew up: Washington state

Family lives in: Alabama and I have a niece on the way!!

Random facts about me: I like to sew and bake, do art out on the porch with my mom, spent time with my dad, when I was young, helping him organize his office on the submarine, I love the rain (but not on wedding days).

Someday I would like to: have a golden retriever and a beagle. Retriever to train as a therapeutic dog, the beagle for fun and snuggles.
